Shiraz transplant research center (STRC) began its
activities in 2001 with the aim of research in different fields of
transplantation because:
• Liver and pancreas
transplantation are exclusively done in Shiraz University of
Medical Sciences
• Shiraz is one of the active
centers of kidney transplantation.
• There is an active team of
bone marrow transplantation in hematology department.
• Corneal transplant is done in
ophthamology
department.
So STRC developed to carrying out the below
goals:
• Carry out research in
different aspects of transplantation, to apply new tests for
transplanted patients to create better life quality for them.
• Gathering and registering
exact and detail information about all of our transplanted
patients, to have complete data from these patients.
• Establishing hepatocyte and
islet cell isolation technique for cell transplantation and
advancing researches.
• Training human powers for
carrying out research and applying activities in the field of
transplant.
Now our center has experience in differentiation of Mesenchymal
stem cell to hepatocyte, isolation and culture of animal hepatocyte
and animal transitional cell culture.
