Shiraz Pediatric chronic kidney disease cohort study (Prognostic Cohort)
Knowledge about the causes, course of the disease, and complications associated with chronic kidney disease(CKD) has a major role in improving the diagnosis, and management of these patients. To achieve this goal, the important role of geographical and ethnic differences in the pattern of incidence, causes, and consequences of the disease should be considered. Due to the fact that Shiraz Organ Transplant Center is the largest transplant center in Iran, children with chronic kidney disease from all over the country, especially southern provinces, refer to this center to receive diagnostic and therapeutic services.
In addition, due to the chronicity of the disease and the need for continuous care, these patients receive health care before and after transplantation from transplant surgeons of Abu Ali Sina Transplant Center and pediatric nephrologists of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. Shiraz Transplant Research Center, under the supervision of Dr. Geramizadeh and the management of Dr. Motazedian, has designed a prospective cohort study of children with CKD that investigates risk factors for progression of CKD. Patients refer to the transplant clinic every three months under the supervision of transplant surgeons and pediatricians before and after transplantation. The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the natural course of chronic kidney disease in children to determine the prognostic factors of progression to end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

• Determining demographic and social, nutritional, and clinical and paraclinical parameters of associated with CKD
• Determining risk factors for progression of CKD to end-stage renal disease in children
